Provincetown, Massachusetts, on the tip of Cape Cod, has an 11’ tidal swing. MacMillan Wharf, where over 100,000 tourists arrive and fishing boats are docked, is already at risk from sea level rise and storm surge. Rising Waters was part of Appearances, the Provincetown Conservation Trust Green Arts Festival, and was installed at two galleries in 2014 and 2015. While attempting to install in 2014, our founder, Susan Israel, was arrested (she had permission!) as the result of irate condo owners who didn’t want their telephone poles marred.
